Healthy Living in a Bad Economy (Part 3 - The Basis of the Foundation: Amino Acids)
Amino acids are the most abundant substance in your body after water. They form one of the essential basics of your body's foundation (hence...Foundational Nutrition), since amino acids are the building blocks of protein. These amino acids are needed for the body's ongoing and daily building and repair work. Without them, your muscles will break down, tissue regeneration will slow, and your immune system will become compromised. The highest quality proteins come from pure, unadulterated animal sources, which means organic eggs; organic free-range, grass fed meat; organic poultry; wild caught fish from pristine waters; organic, raw milk and cheese, and undenatured whey protein from pasture-raised cows. You may have already realized where I am headed with this; if you are trying to eat a high quality organic diet, you know how extraordinarily expensive this can be. So what is the best solution to adding high quality protein to our diets at a moderate cost? Of all the protein sources available, undenatured whey protein can be quite cost-effective as a daily protein substitute for one or even two meals. As a bonus, it is one of the best ways to stimulate the production of glutathione in the body. Glutathione is the master antioxidant and a key factor in keeping one healthy. Our next installment will talk more about this master antioxidant and why it is so important.
